This year, Stop the Pressure Day is being held on 17th November. It's an event launched by the European Pressure Ulcer Panel (EPUAP) and held on the third Thursday of November every year.
The 2nd of October is World Ostomy Day, a celebration that has been held on the first Saturday in October since 2010. Word Ostomy Day is a chance to raise awareness of what it means to live with a stoma.
Between 1600,000 and 200,000 people are leaving with stoma in the UK. And around 21, 000 people undergo stoma formation surgery every year. That's a lot of people living life as an ostomate.
This year, MASD Awareness Day was held on 16th March. It is an opportunity to #thinkMASD and develop new strategies for recognising, preventing and treating the condition.
OSTOMY AWARENESS DAY
Ostomy Awareness Day is a yearly event designed to bring awareness to the day-to-day realities that living with a stoma entails and to offer education and guidance on how to support ostomates in your life.
Since it's always better to prevent damage before it occurs rather than treating it after the fact, those with stomas should use Medi Derm-S Barrier Film as part of their aily stoma care routine.
